ACR Delegation Leader

Delegation Leaders are selected by the professional association to represent the members and the goals of the association.  Delegation leaders provide the initial vision and guidance in the development of the professional program. Delegation Leaders assist in facilitating the professional dialog, greeting hosts and representing the delegation members while in the field.

 

 Dr. Howard B. Fleishon

  American College of Radiology

Howard Fleishon is from Philadelphia where he graduated medical school from Temple University in 1982 and completed his radiology training At Albert Einstein Medical Center. After residency, Howard accepted a position in independent practice with Valley Radiologists, Ltd. in Phoenix, Az. Shortly after attaining partnership, he was elected to the corporation’s Executive Committee. In 1996 became the managing partner for the practice.

In 2000, Howard was named President of Valley Radiologists. In 2004, he engineered a merger of his practice with Scottsdale Medical Imaging to form Southwest Diagnostic Imaging. At that time, SDI was the largest radiology private practice in the Southwest. Until 2007, Howard served as Executive Vice President of SDI. In 2008, he transitioned to become Medical Director of Radiology of John C. Lincoln North Mountain in Phoenix. Part of his role was to be the radiology representative in an emerging integrated physician group.


In 2015, Howard transitioned to Emory University to assume the role of Division Director Community Radiology Services and Chief of Service, Emory Johns Creek Department of Radiology. Howard retired from his administrative roles in 2020 but remains with the department as a professor.


Howard has a long history of contributions to organized medicine. He has served in the Arizona Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He also has been very active with the American College of Radiology dating back to 1994. His past appointments include Secretary/Treasurer and President of the Arizona Radiological Society. At the national level, he has served as ACR Council Speaker, Vice Chair and Chair of Government Relations  Commission, Chair of the ACR Foundation Executive Committee, ACR Secretary-Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chair, Board of Chancellors. Currently, Howard is the Past President of the ACR.
