Dr. Amy Wright – CANN Delegation Leader Biography

Delegation Leaders are selected by the professional association to represent the members and the goals of the association.  Delegation leaders provide the initial vision and guidance in the development of the professional program. Delegation Leaders assist in facilitating the professional dialog, greeting hosts and representing the delegation members while in the field.

Dr. Amy Wright is a neonatal nurse practitioner at the McMaster Children’s Hospital NICU, and Assistant Professor at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. Her program of research seeks to understand the experiences of parents with young infants and toddlers, with a focus on Indigenous parenting and cultural safety. Dr. Wright has experience in community-based approaches to research, collaborating with Indigenous communities to meet their research goals. Her research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Dr. Wright has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association of Neonatal Nurses (CANN) for over 15 years, and President of the organization for the last six. The Canadian Association of Neonatal Nurses seeks to optimize the care of neonates and their families by providing continuing education, professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities for neonatal nurses.
