Please note- Specific meetings and facility visits will be determined based on the goals and topics of discussion defined by the delegation leader and the UAE organizing committee. Delegation members will be asked to complete a Professional profile and offer suggested topics of discussion.  The final schedule of activities will reflect the composition of the delegation.

April 22, 2023  Arrival- Dubai

Welcome to United Arab Emirates. On arrival at Dubai International Airport, you will be met your Delegation Manager outside the baggage hall area at the airport and transfer to hotel.

In the evening, program opening, and orientation followed by welcome dinner.

April 23, 2023  Cultural DayDubai

This morning, we begin the cultural introduction to the UAE with a photo stop at the Dubai Creek, the lifeblood of Dubai. Then we will drive through the Bastakiya, Al Fahidi Fort, Ruler’s Court, Old Mosque, Textile Street, Central Bank, Ministry of Finance, Heritage Village.

Proceed towards Jumeirah Road passing by the Dry Docks Dubai & the Historical Union House with photo stops at the beautiful and famous Jumeirah Mosque, the world’s tallest 7-star hotel, Burj Al Arab, and enter the Palm Jumeirah to visit the Palm View Observatory point and view the whole Palm eagle eye view and leave from there to City Side & pass by the Tallest Building in the whole world, Burj Khalifa and Guests will be left in the mall to have lunch and come back to join the tour on a fixed timing and proceed to the Sheikh Palace area, here you can see Peacocks which are rare in this region and then move to the Gold Souq & Spice souq and finish the tour and move for dinner.

April 24, 2023 Professional Day

The delegation will be officially welcomed to the United Arab Emirates today by a representative of the Ministry of Justice.

MOJ representatives will:

  • provide an overview of role of Ministry of Justice, and the role of induvial Emirates legal authorities in the legal system of the UAE,
  • outline the legislative process and how policy is developed incorporating Sharia Law,
  • introduce the C3 Court system in Dubai and the remote court system initiative  in Abu Dhabi. 
  • discuss the challenges and impacts of these two initiatives on legal professionals,
  • and discuss the role of international legal professionals in the UAE.

Later meet with faculty at The University of Dubai, College of Law. The University of Dubai (UD) is a fully owned subsidiary of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). The College of Law was established in 2014. Since Dubai is a hub for investments and services, our present programs have been designed to cater specifically to this market. The College offers two LLMs delivered in English, one focused (track) on Arbitration and Dispute Resolution and the other on Financial Crimes and Money Laundering.

Topics of Discussion:

  • The structure of Legal education in the UAE, including admission standards and graduation requirements. 
  • Understand the how Sharia Law influences the legal code in the UAE.
  • The role of Women in the Legal community and how to attract women into the practice of law.

Later meet with representatives of the Emirates Association of Lawyers and Legal to discuss the development of the legal profession in the UAE.  Also meet with the Women’s Council of the Emirates Association of Lawyers and Legal to learn about the roll of women in law in the UAE.

April 25, 2023 Professional Day       

Today observer the C3 Court system in practice.  The world’s first judicial system in which all three courts – first instance, appeals and supreme court – will hear cases concurrently rather than consecutively. The unique initiative reduces the total time frame for the three proceedings for each case from 305 days to 30 days. The ‘C3 Court’ was developed in cooperation with the Dubai Future Foundation and was launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, in February 2018. It was launched under the umbrella of the ‘Dubai 10X’, an initiative that aims to place Dubai 10 years ahead of other cities.

Later meet with representatives of the Dubai Future Foundation to discuss the inception of the C3 concept and the advances in the C3 Court system since it was first launched.

April 26, 2023 Cultural day and Transfer to Abu Dhabi

This morning drive to Abu Dhabi, the largest of the seven Emirates and the Federal capital of the United Arab Emirates. A well-planned modern city with several high-rise buildings, impressive palaces, beautiful corniches, and architectural mosques.

Afternoon enjoy the tour of Abu Dhabi. Visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque the most imposing religious and national landmark in Abu Dhabi to date. Then a panoramic tour of the Emirates Palace, President’s Palace, the Old Fort, built in the late 19th century, making it the oldest buildings in town. Then explore the Abu Dhabi Heritage Village. At the eastern end of the Corniche, near the port, lies Abu Dhabi’s fish market and wharf, offering an excellent view of the city’s skyline.

April 27, 2023 Professional Day  

This morning meet with practicing Lawyers in Abu Dhabi to discuss the role of lawyers in the more conservative emirates, and how the role of women layers in Abu Dhabi. 

In the afternoon, conclude your delegation with a wrap up session to discuss best practices and lessons learned from observations, and discussions with legal professionals in the UAE.  Make recommendations for future exchanges and collaborations.

April 28, 2023 Departure

Today transfer to the airport to connect your flight back home/ or begin the Optional Cultural Extension to Oman.
